Akkineni Nageswara Rao, widely known as ANR, was an Indian actor and producer, known for his works majorly in Telugu cinema. He starred in many landmark films in his seventy five-year career, and became one of the most prominent figures of Telugu cinema.
Nageswara Rao received seven state Nandi Awards, and five Filmfare Awards South. He is a recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of Art and Cinema.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao would have turned 99 today on 20th of September. He passed away at the age of 90 in 2014 after battling stomach cancer. Before his demise, he was an active member of the film industry from his early 40s till 2013. Remembering his father on his birth anniversary, his son and actor Nagarjuna took to Twitter and penned a heartfelt note, paying tribute to the late Tollywood star.
