Mirzapur 2 synopsis

Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) is back to avenge the merciless killing of his wife Sweety and his brother Bablu. But he is not alone this time. In his war against Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and his son Munna(Divyendu Sharma), Guddu’s sister Dimpy (Harshita Gaur) and Golu (Gajgamini Gupta) are there to support him.

Mirzapur 2 review

He – Dadaji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) sits on his wheel chair waiting for his prey and watching those lions on Animal Planet – the bahu hates him. While another one is trying to get on his feet – he is Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) – the survivor of the bloodbath on that baraat by Munna(Divyendu Sharma). So it’s       Gunzzzz Goons & Gaalis Part 2 in Mirzapur 2.

After the terrific success of season 1, Mirzapur 2 comes and fires on all cylinders but fails to make that expected explosion. If just adding sensationalisms and foul language with brilliant production values and techniques plus having A - grade actors doing their best in a cliché, predicted and boringly thanda revenge saga then Mirzapur 2 is for you.

It does the same things again and again but without a crackling script and sequence – exploits the Hindi hinterland exotica with the same guns, goons and gaalis but creator Puneet Krishna and the director duo Gurmmeet Singh & Mihir Desai fail to pump up the adrenaline and get obsessed with shock values which are at many times are unnecessary.

This more evil v/s less evil instead of good v/s evil is depriving of any morality, humanity and positivity. It’s disturbingly intense all the time and has no hope.

Anyways, the technical expertise and outstanding performances lift this tiring second season.

Pankaj Tripathi excels. Ali Fazal is good. Divyendu Sharma has a blast. Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Anjum Sharma, Rajesh Tailang and veteran Kulbhushan Kharbanda add good support.

Vijay Varma and Liliput make their presence felt.

From the female cast Rasika Dugal is excellent. Sheeba Chaddha is fine. Harshita Gaur is fantastic. Shweta Tripathi is outstanding.

Scene that should have been deleted at once

At least a couple in every episode, in short it’s a long list. Not because of sex, violence, foul language etc. There is no explanation behind all those shocks.

It’s a Bottom line

If you love Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi more than anything else then who is going to stop you. Rest – Beware.
