I gave treats to the dog to become friends with him,’ says Lalit Prabhakar ahead of Pet Puraan’s premiere on SonyLIV
There are way too many perks of having pet dogs. Not only are the lovable furballs always eager to give you a lick of affection but are the most effective stressbusters. All pet lovers look forward to the end of the day when they come home weary, only to be greeted by a friend who takes away all kinds of exhaustion with their energy and sloppy kisses.

But how do you get their attention and love when they are not actually your pet? Lalit Prabhakar revealed the tactics he used to form a bond with the dog actor on the sets of his upcoming Marathi pet parenting series, Pet Puraan.

The series, which will explore the immense love and happiness that pets bring into a family, will have Lalit Prabhakar playing Atul, a relaxed, outgoing man who discovers the joys of parenthood, when he, along with his wife Aditi (Sai Tamhankar), adopt a dog and a cat. Lalit talked about how he thought of ways to become friends with the pets, especially the dog, as part of his preparation for the role. “I wanted to be able to authentically portray the close bond between a pet and the owner. For that, it was important that I become friends with the dog and make sure that he actually likes me.”

Elaborating on his bond with the dog, he said, “In the beginning, to break the ice, I arranged for special treats, which I gave him at intervals. I wanted him to feel safe around me, and warm up to me. I used to call him by his character name, Vyanku, even when we were not filming, to create a sense of familiarity.

It helped, but he was anyway a very lovable and happy dog, so I grew fond of him very quickly.” Pet Puraan is directed and written by Dnyanesh Zoting and produced by Ranjit Gugle of Huge Productions. Starring Sai Tamhankar and Lalit Prabhakar, the show will premiere on SonyLIV on May 6, 2022, in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali.
