"Jab tak Gupt rahega, tab tak Rog rahega", with this catchy tagline and a riveting trailer, SonyLIV's forthcoming show Dr. Arora- Gupt Rog Visheshagya has been creating waves. The audience across the board has loved the world of Dr. Arora and its melodious music, which is sampled in the trailer. In an event last night, SonyLIV showcased the music album of the forthcoming show.
Dr. Arora - Gupt Rog Visheshagya, is a quirky, light-hearted dramedy set in heartland India that chronicles the life and times of a sex consultant and his various patients in the 90s. Its five-song album has a healthy dose of romance and nostalgia, much like the show itself. Created by Imtiaz Ali, the show and its music promise to evoke a sense of nostalgia, a trip down memory lane much like many of his earlier films have. Joining him for this album is an old collaborator; poet and lyricist Irshad Kamil who is known to not arm his songs with heavy words, but for letting them breathe and grow into the music.
Speaking at the event Imtiaz said; "Dr Arora - Gupt Rog Visheshagya is a quirky, funny but a sympathetic look towards the doctor and the patients of this doctor that are all dealing with a saucerful of secrets that combined in the social milieu of Central India in the nineties presents a very interesting as well as nostalgic milieu for the show. Music plays an important role in the nostalgia as well as the human feelings which the show deals in.
The extremely talented Sunny and Niladri Kumar have created wonderful tracks which we are very proud to showcase. This for me is also the beginning of presenting interesting music in digital shows. I think this is an interesting step forward for us at Window Seat because no matter what the platform is, music will remain an integral part of Indian storytelling."
The extremely versatile Kumud Mishra who plays the titular of Dr. Arora, could not make it for the event as he is shooting abroad. In his video message, Kumud said; “This is my second innings with Imtiaz and SonyLIV and it has been an absolute pleasure. Dr. Arora-Gupt Rog Visheshagya is a refreshing take on an important issue that demands more conversations around it, as that is the only way it can be normalized.
That said, the real fun of doing this show for me was in its very interesting storyline, the characters, the locations, the music and the overall milieu that the story is placed in. Both the talented, young directors, Archit and Sajid have made sure that our show pushes the envelope yet remains entertaining for a larger family viewing. I'm really looking forward to the audience's response to our show releasing on 22nd July.”
The show has been directed by Sajid Ali and Archit Kumar. Both the directors provided further insights into the show. According to Archit Kumar; “The immersive music and light-hearted tone of the show is, according to me, the hero. To engage an audience, whilst pushing the envelope has been both a learning, and an extremely rewarding endeavour.”
“Set in the heartland and dealing with a largely taboo topic, the show provided an extremely interesting premise that any director would love to delve into. Talking about sex in the most non-sexual way was the most exciting part for me in Dr. Arora.” said Sajid Ali.
The highlight of the event last night were the live performances of the yet to be released songs. ‘Khalipan’ performed by Abhay Jodhpurkar and Meenal Jain left the audience mesmerised The music for the song has been composed by the classical music maestro Niladri Kumar.
Along with ‘Khalipan’ Niladri has also composed the song ‘Mehram’ sung by the one and only Arijit Singh. The video of the song was also released at the event.
‘Bewafa Mashooqa', the song featured in the show’s trailer that has garnered instant praise and adulation was also performed at the event by singer Ravvi Mishhra. The song truly represents an ode to the music of the 90s and its performance took the audience down the memory lane! It has been composed by the well-known music director Sunny M.R. who has also composed the romantic track ‘Ishq Ishq’, sung by Shloke Lal.
The show also has a folk song ‘Bedardi Saiyyan’, written, composed and sung by Sh. Narrottam Bain. Dr Arora's background score has been composed by Anand Bhaskar & Ajay Jayanthi and its title track by Ishaan Chhabra.
