Atrangi Re movie synopsis

Rinku Sooryavanshi (Sara Ali Khan) a bindass girl from Bihar gets married under strange circumstances to a Tamil medical student doctor V Venkatesh Vishwanath Iyer aka Vishu (Dhanush). Rinku and Vishnu leave to Delhi to the hostel where Vishu is staying and he is about to get engaged to his girlfriend. To make matter more complicated, Rinku is madly in love with a magician Sajjad Ali Khan (Akshay Kumar) since seven years and has tried to elope several times but brought back by her powerful family of strongmen led by Nani (Seema Biswas).

When it comes to redefine love on screen, trust this team of director Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma (Tanu Weds Manu series, Raanjhanaa).

Atrangi Re – a unique and apt title, it’s a battle between heat and mind. Away from the clichés of a run of the mill Bollywood love story, the movie deals with the idea of love, the meaning of bonding and understanding togetherness.

The quirky, smart and engagingly emotional writing by Himanshu Sharma powered by a brilliant narration by Aanand L. Rai that displays his good hand in treatment and scene development touches our heart and issues that matter.

Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma has smartly commented on patriarchy, inter religion marriage and more in this weird, funny but emotionally strong love saga.

To pull this unique concept was not an easy task and it’s comes out very well.

The first half ends (I saw the preview of this OTT release in theatre) is baffling that kept me guessing and wondering where it will head but as the movie progressed from the half way mark, it developed layers and convincingly hit me at the right place.
