This week in theatres and Ott : Action packed masala of crime, justice and heroism

Liger : 

Starring Vijay Devarakonda in the lead, the film, directed by Puri Jagannath and made under the banner of Dharma Productions,  releases in theatres on 25th August 2022 in both Hindi and Telugu versions. Vijay plays a MMA fighter, Ananya Pandey plays his lover and Ramya plays his mother. It would be interesting to see what part Mike Tyson is playing in the film!

Delhi Crime Season 2:

 

DCP Vartika Chaturvedi and her team are back and they are in the pursuit of a gang of deadly killers who prey on vulnerable senior citizens by killing them mercilessly and robbing all their belongings. Which unsurpassed fear looms over Delhi, the police team traces their roots to the notorious and infamous 'Kachha Baniyan' gang which operated in the capital two decades earlier. The new season of Delhi Crime is releasing on Netflix on 26th August 2022

Maharani Season 2 :

 

Another most anticipated web series hitting the OTT is the second season of Maharani directed by Subhash Kapoor, starring Huma Qureshi in the lead. Huma stars as the conflicted Bihar- based politician after her CM husband( Soham Shah) is jailed and she takes his position. This season is tauted to be more complex and captivating. Streams on Sony LIV from 25th August 2022

Criminal Justice season 3: 

 

Fans of Pankaj Tripathi will get to witness his charm and wits as he reprises the role of the lawyer Madhav Mishra in the next installment of Criminal Justice that streams on Disney+ Hotstar from 26 August 2022. This one focuses on juvenile justice and also stars Shweta Prasad, Swastika Mukherjee and Purab Kohli in key roles.

Samaritan: 

 

Sylvester Stallone stars in this superhero action flick directed by Julius Avery.It follows a superhero who is believed to have died 25 years ago during a battle with his nemesis. However, he is forced to return to the limelight and save his city after his 13-year-old neighbour discovers him. Streams on Amazon Prime Video from 26 August 2022.

Aparajito: 

 

Aparajito – The Undefeated, is a Bengali-language biographical film directed and co-written by Anik Dutta. It was produced by Firdausul Hasan and Probal Halder under the banner of Friends Communication and is based on the making of the film Pather Panchali by the legendary Satyajit Ray. The film had opened up to rave reviews during its theatrical release and the performance of Jeetu Kamal was highly praised. Streaming on Zee5 from 25th August 2022
