Korean drama series Island narrates the story of four people who meet for a variety of reasons and come from different backgrounds at Jeju Island. It depicts the unfortunate and strange journey of the characters who are fated to fight evil that is attempting to destroy the world. Island stars Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo and Sung Jun in the lead roles and the series is directed by Bae Jong. The film will stream on Prime Video from December 30.
Action-thriller Captain Phillips is based on a true story of 2009 hijacking of the American container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. The film centres on Captain Richard Phillips, the commanding officer of the Alabama played by Tom Hanks, and the Somali pirate captain Abduwali Muse played by Barkhad Abdi who kidnaps him. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass, and will stream on Prime Video on January 1.
Horror-thriller Don’t Breathe is a story of blind Gulf War veteran named Norman played by actor Stephen Lang whose home is broken into by three delinquents in order to steal his money. To their astonishment, they learn that Norman is not as helpless as he initially appears to be. Directed by Federico Álvarez, the film also stars Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto and will stream on Prime Video on January 1.
Psychological horror Escape Room narrates the story of six participants from all backgrounds competing in an escape room to earn a $10,000 prize money. However, things change when individuals are placed in dreadful situations. Directed by Adam Robite, the film stars Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Tyler Labine, Nik Dodani, Jay Ellis, and Yorick van Wageningen and will stream on Prime Video on January 1.
Supernatural horror film Insidious: The Last Key follows the story of the para-psychologist Elise Rainier played by Lin Shaye, who is haunted by her past when she is made to go back to her childhood home. She must battle the evil that is terrorising and possessing people with the help of her family. The film also stars Angus Sampson, Leigh Whannell, Spencer Locke, Caitlin Gerard, and Bruce Davison and is directed by Adam Robitel. The film, which is the fourth film in the Insidious franchise, will stream on Prime Video on January 1.
The storyline of the film Passengers begins with the therapist Claire Summers played by Anne Hathaway who is given the task of counselling the five plane disaster survivors by her mentor. She falls in love with him against her better judgement just as the other survivors begin to inexplicably vanish. She makes a commitment to uncover the truth despite the results since she thinks Eric is hiding something from her. Directed by Rodrigo García, the film will stream on Prime Video on January 1.
Salt revolves around a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt, who swore an oath to duty, honour and country. But, when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy, Salt's oath is put to the test. Now a fugitive, Salt must use every skill gained from years of training and experience to evade capture, but the more she tries to prove her innocence, the more guilty she seems. The film is directed by Phillip Noyce, featuring Angelina Jolie in the lead along with actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Liev Schreiber in pivotal roles. It starts streaming from 1st January on Prime Video.

All three films in The Smurfs franchise will stream on Prime Video on 1st January.

White House Down is a 2013 American political action thriller film directed by Roland Emmerich. The story revolves around capitol police officer John Cale (Channing Tatum), who has just been denied his dream job of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) as a member of the Secret Service. Not wanting to disappoint his young daughter Emily (Joey King) with the bad news, Cale takes her on a tour of the White House. While he and Emily are there, a heavily armed paramilitary group attacks and seizes control. As the nation's government dissolves in chaos, only Cale can save Emily, the president and the country. The action thriller will stream on Prime Video from 1st January.
