RRR: “Ram Charan is now like a brother” Jr NTR
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. aka Jr NTR or Tarak is a sensation – the actor, singer, and television presenter had never been so much excited in his 20 years of illustrious career. Playing Bheem in S.S. Rajamouli’s epic magnum opus RRR Jr NTR speaks about how was offered the film, his bonding with Ram Charan, the challenge of playing Bheem and much more.
Was waiting for my turn badly
NTR is playing one of the leads in RRR. When asked about working with Rajamouli for the fourth time, NTR says "I had worked with him for three films already. But it was long back. I knew Rajamouli would cast me sometime or the other and I was waiting badly for my opportunity. Finally the call came and I signed the film".
When asked about how the process of signing the film happened, NTR says "I was on my way to a party, Rajamouli asked me to come over to his house. The moment I went there and was exchanging pleasantries with his family, Ram Charan also arrived. I was surprised to see him all of a sudden. Rajamouli took us to a room and said I am doing my next with you guys. We did not think one bit and said okay".
When asked about the story narration, NTR says "We okayed the project and also announced it officially. Days and months passed by but Rajamouli did not narrate the story. We could not dare to ask him for a narration as well. I personally was thinking how he would balance two of us in the film. But when he narrated the story to both of us, we were absolutely thrilled.
When asked about how he played Bheem, NTR says "Playing Bheem was quite a challenge. Rajamouli knew my strength and pushed me hard. I had to expose a volcano of emotions and had to be charged through the filming. As there was no reference point, things were difficult. But as I knew Rajamouli in and out, I went with his vision".
When asked about working with the likes of Ram Charan, NTR says "Everyone thinks we bonded on the sets of RRR. But we were friends for the longest time. Charan is an intense actor and keeps his emotions to himself. Our chemistry in the film will be remembered for the longest time. Charan is like a younger brother now".
When asked about the working experience with Rajamouli, NTR says "With age, Rajamouli is only getting better. You will know exactly what I am talking about when you see RRR. No one would have thought of this plot in such a manner. Rajamouli's creativity is just unmatchable and no one can beat it in India".
When asked about how tense he is about the release, NTR says "I was tense when the film was announced for a January 7th release but also got disappointed when it was postponed. Now, I just want the release to be done with. I am waiting for the word blockbuster and collections Tsunami to hit the box office."
