Sidney Poitier has received many nominations in his career that includes two Academy Award nominations, ten Golden Globes nominations, two Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, six BAFTA nominations, eight Laurel nominations, and one Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) nomination.
From 1997 to 2007, Sidney Poitier served as the Bahamian Ambassador to Japan.
Sidney Poitier married twice, the first time to Juanita Hardy from 1960 to 1965 and Joanna Shimkus in 1976. Sidney Poitier is survived by six children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
