Yes, the highly awaited Aamir Khan’s adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood cult that starred the incredible Tom Hanks is likely to collect around 18 – 20 crores on day one.

A trade expert on condition of anonymity says that Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha day one collection will be in the range of 18 – 20 crores. It might increase a bit but a massive holiday opening of 25+ crores for Laal Singh Chaddha doesn’t seem to be happening. But who knows?, miracles do happen.

Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chandan and the screenplay is written by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (in his Hindi film debut) and Mona Singh.

Raksha Bandhan day one box office – 12 – 15 crores

Raksha Bandhan  - the family comedy-drama directed by Aanand L. Rai and starring Akshay Kumar in lead is likely to collect around 12 – 15 crores from box office on day one.

A trade expert on condition of anonymity says, 12 – 15 cores is okay but not great for the family drama which is also trying to cash on the extended weekend festival holidays.

However, since the movie is directed by Aanand L. Rai who is known to be strong in handling emotions, Raksha Bandhan might pick up well after the release.

Raksha Bandhan is directed by Aanand L. Rai. Produced by Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films and along with Akshay Kumar in lead also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth and Deepika Khanna.

Initially on paper, the Aamir Khan factor has given the edge but the unavoidable comparisons with Tom Hanks Forrest Gump plus the boycott trolls (which is for both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan but Aamir Khan is facing more heat) adds more pressure to Laal Singh Chaddha which will have to be incredibly good to maintain its initial edge.

So, the Hindi film industry may see a collection of around 30- 35 crores on day one ( Laal Singh Chaddha + Raksha Bandhan - as per the advance booking trends) which is not overwhelming considering the holiday weekend but encouraging for sure.

Before Covid 19 pandemic, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan would have collectively given a figure of around 45 – 50 cores on day one, adds the trade source.

Now all depends on the content, the race between Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan begins from August 11, 2022.
