Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan trailer review: Salman Khan’s touted Eid bonanza will be blockbuster ya disaster? Find out

Finally, after a long wait Salman Khan released the trailer of his highly awaited Eid bonanza of 2023 - Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in Mumbai.

It was released with much fanfare and after releasing couple of songs along with the controversial Yentamma, keeping the curiosity level intact.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Salman Khan Films. The film stars Salman Khan, Venkatesh, Pooja Hegde and Jagapathi Babu along with others.

We have seen the trailer and here is our analysis, find out whether the film will be a blockbuster or a disaster.

We begin with the plus points

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan trailer plus points

Salman Khan

Salman Khan is in his known swag and with those long locks, the 58-year-old actor looks younger. The action is the major highlight and the final portions of the trailer are pure mass centric action dhamaka that will make the fans and single screen audience happy.

No foul language, sex and nudity

Salman Khan films are family oriented and are away from foul language, sex and nudity.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan the touted comeback of Salman Khan to the big screen from the trailer seems to be involving around families.

Auspicious Eid release

In spite of previous setbacks during Eid since 2017 – Tubelight, Race3 and Radhe turned into disasters, the industry is pinning hopes on Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (KKBKKJ). The industry and Salman Khan’s fans are hoping that their favourite star will spin a miracle like Srk’s Pathaan and revive his box office dying fortunes.

The Eid holiday and the hunger of the OTT (over the top) action masala crazy fans of Bollywood and Salman Khan diehard fans is expected to ensure a handsome weekend.

Minus points

Another south remake whose Hindi version is easily available on YouTube. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan even if not officially called as a remake, its highly inspired by Ajith’s 2014 Tamil hit Veeram (meaning - Valour) directed by Siva co-starring Tamannaah.

Veeram was remade in Telugu as Katamarayudu (meaning Lord of the forest) in 2017 starring Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan. Directed by Siva. Katamarayudu was a disaster.

Interestingly in 2019, another remake of Veeram was made, this time in Kannada titled Odeya (meaning Owner) directed by M. D. Sridhar starring Darshan and introducing Sanah Thimmayyah.

Odeya fared much better than Katamarayudu at the box office.

So, Salman Khan’s KKBKKJ is the fourth version of Veeram and Veeram’s Hindi version till the writing of this write up is available on Youtube.

The romantic angle has no spark

Though Salman Khan looks extra cool and dapper while Pooja Hegde is charmingly beautiful, their chemistry lacks sparks and its quite Thanda. The feel is missing.

Not much bonding with brothers seen in the trailer

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is the story of four brothers played by Salman Khan – the eldest along with Jassie Gill, Raghav Juyal and Siddharth Nigam. The 3+ min trailer showed the romantic portions between Salman Khan and Pooja Bhatt and action sequences between Salman Khan and Jagapathi Babu as the villain Rowdy Anna. But the emotional bonding between brothers and lack of chemistry between Salman Khan and Pooja Hegde takes away the key ingredient before solid action that makes the solid impact -the emotional connect in those bone braking, building collapsing and gravity defying stunts.

The unnecessary use of Bhagwad Gita shloka and Vande Mataram.

The trailer of Salman Khan Film production (SKF) Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan opens with a shloka from Bhagwad Gita - dharma-kshetre kuru-kshetre samaveta yuyutsavah mamakah pandavashchaiva kimakurvata Sanjaya (simple explanation – in reality it’s a dialogue between Dhritarashtra and his narrator Sanjay when the Kauravas and Pandavas have gathered together for the battle of Kurukshetra. Dhritarashtra said, “O Sanjay, after gathering on the holy field of Kurukshetra, and desiring to fight, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?”.

I want to ask the screenplay writer and director of KKBKKJ -    Farhad Samji what connection does the above shloka has with the movie/trailer.

During the end Salman Khan says, “ insaniyat mein hai bada dum, Vande Mataram’  agreed Nationality is in fashion but jabardasti deshbhakti ka kya matlab hai. It’s just rhyming.

KKBKKJ trailer lacks the required excitement

The trailer of Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is quite routine, apart from the action sequences and colourful production values, the movie fails to create the buzz, lacks thrills and emotional connect is missing. Yes, lighter moments are there but overall, the makers have released a very routine trailer which has considerable OTT moments and is good space for netizens to create memes and design their trolls.

Cineblues Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan verdict

Average

As per the trailer and all the other things mentioned above, Salman Khan’s touted box office revival Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is likely to struggle and end as an average fair. We would love to be corrected and proven wrong, the movie may turn up to be much better than the trailer and emerge as a hit.

But that seems to be a miracle as of now. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan wil be an average affair at the box office.
