Ghoomer trailer review: Abhishek Bachchan, Saiyami Kher starrer is a unique sports film, it will be interesting to see how R Balki to makes it possible and convincing.
Ghoomer trailer is out and again the adman turned filmmaker R Balki has brought another unique concept.
A motivating sports flick featuring a physically challenge cricketer. The story of a woman cricketer played by Saiyami Kher who bowls with one hand and earns a place in the Indian cricket team.
The movie sees Abhishek Bachchan as the failed cricketer (probably an alcoholic) who becomes Saiyami’s coach and mentors her to do the unbelievable.
Saiyami has lost her right hand in an accident and the depressed promising young cricketer wants to end her life.
Ghoomer also stars Angad Bedi who plays Saiyami’s love interest and Shabana Azmi as Saiyami’s mother.
And of course, it’s an R Balki film so Amitabh Bachchan has to be there and he is probably as some big shot.
Plus points
The unique concept of a on hand cricketer is something really out it of the box. Unreliable.
Abhishek Bachchan is terrific.
Saiyami is the perfect choice.
The trailer is finely cut and keeps maintains the interest level
Minus points
Unique concept which seems unbelievable now how R Balki will make it possibly convincing is to be seen.
Ghoomer is not a real life story its fictional. Though it draws inspiration from a Hungarian shooter Karoly Takacs.
R Balki is known for spoiling it at the end. It happened with Shamitabh were his love for Amitabh killed the movie.
In Ki and Ka the predictability and influence of Abhiman took over.
Chup was a disastrous misfire
Ghoomer inspired from
Ghoomer is inspired from the incredible feat of Hungarian shooter Karoly Takacs - the first shooter to win two Olympic gold medals in the 25 metre rapid fire pistol event, both with his left hand after his right hand was seriously injured.
Ghoomer (the title means spin) has an extraordinary concept, triumph of a paraplegic sportsperson, played by Saiyami, who excels as a cricketer trained under a failed cricketer turned coach played by Abhishek Bachchan. Directed by R Balki, the movie also stars Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi in key roles.
Ghoomer releases in theatres on August 18, 2023.
