Animal teaser review : violence loading in a kick – ass mayhem.
I remember an interview of writer-director Sandeep Reddy Vanga with film critic Anupama Chopra where the disgruntled filmmaker wanted to show the real meaning of violence in his next, when his Kabir Singh was slammed as a violent film by some section of people. And it wouldn’t be incorrect to say that Animal is his backlash!
The teaser which dropped at 11:00 AM IST today, coinciding with Ranbir Kapoor’s 41 st birthday, combines the protagonist’s intensity with the film-maker’s madness and the result is kick-ass mayhem. In a good sense. “A father-son bond carved in blood”, says the tagline that runs during the 2-minute 26 seconds teaser.
We see Anil Kapoor, who plays the father of Ranbir, slapping him mercilessly and he doesn’t retort. In a casual stroll with his beau (Rashmika Mandana), he says her that his Papa is the best father in the world, but he doesn’t want to discuss his troubled and tumultuous equation with him.
While we figure out that the father-son relationship is not healthy, a family photo session says it all, where some faces are awkward and not cheerful. Reddy has an affinity for family pics which he employed in Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh and now in Animal.
And in the next few seconds, we see Ranbir in a transformed Gangster avatar, and he looks dashing, daring, and deadly! Puffing a cigarette, he crosses the road with his gang of Sardars. The scene is swagger personified. There is a deadly fight scene the glimpses of which was shown when the teaser promo was launched on 10 th June 2023.
The fire in his eyes and the agony in his mind speak volumes on the actor’s prolific talent and risk-taking appetite.
We see a fatally wounded Ranbir lying on the ground, bleeding profusely, surrounded by bullets and holding a gun when the narrative voiceover reads, “Aap niraash mat hona Papa, yeh toh bas shuruwaat hai”
Truly, it’s the beginning and I just can’t wait for the theatrical release on 1st December 2023.
And the last shot in the teaser – Bobby Deol – the look and the body, and holding a knife, the teaser couldn’t get more inventive.

Animal is an upcoming Indian Hindi language action thriller film co-written, edited and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios. Animal stars Anil Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri.
