Tiger 3 movie review : Salman Khan gives a swashbuckling action-packed Diwali gift
What: Tiger 3 –Finally Salman Khan gifts Eidi to his fans, the industry and the public in general and it’s on Diwali. Swag se karo bhai Ka swagat.
Tiger 3 movie synopsis
Avinash "Tiger" Singh Rathore and Zoya Nazar Katrina Kaif) become prey to a deadly plan by ex ISI Aatish Rehman (Emraan Hashmi) who has an old score to settle. Torn between duty, nationality and parenthood, Tiger and Zoya hop from Turkey to Russia to Pakistan in their new mission and we find some old faces from previous Tiger instalments – Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai like Gopi Arya (Ranvir Shorey) Tiger’s colleague, Rakesh Ji (Kumud Mishra) the master hacker.
New additions like Revathi as the RAW chief, Chandrachur Rai and Anant Vidhat Sharma as Rakesh Ji’s assistant, Simran as the Pakistani Prime Minister, Riddhi Dogra as a sharp-shooter and some super surprises in this high-octane adrenaline rush filled with emotion.
The story by Aditya Chopra has nothing great and unique to offer but it follows the familiar temple of a spy action drama filled with twists and double crossing, some turns are familiar but there are a couple of surprises which makes it different from a typical cat and mouse spy saga. Screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan is tight with no dull moments, director Maneesh Sharma builds up the atmosphere grippingly with satisfactory doses of action and a surprise twist.
If you are an entertainment hungry soul of Bollywood who love section then don’t ask these questions – how, why and who in this filmy superficial premise and enjoy the terrifically choregraphed fast-paced action sequence like the motorcycle chase, the helicopter sequence and yes of course, entry of Shah Rukh Khan aka Pathaan its zip zap zoom, bam boom thud.
Katrina kaif as Zoya too is super fit and delivers those kick ass action kicks to add more value to the core.
Flaws
Now, a Pakistani PM dreaming of democracy and Indian Raw agents fighting the Pakistani army etc to save the Pak PM in order to restore democracy in Pakistan is a thing that needs a solid intestine to digest. The Bollywood peacemakers think this can be so easy.
Performance
Salman Khan is ageing but he fits in here perfectly as his screen presence has that rare swag and charisma that has made him a phenomenon. He does justice to his role. Outstanding in action and in coupke of emotional scenes he makes the audience emote with him.
Katrina Kaif as Zoya Nazar is excellent and her action packs solid punch.
Emraan Hashmi as Aatish Rehman is subtle as the villain.
Revathi as Maithili Menon, Chief of RAW is fine.
Simran as Nasreen Irani, Prime Minister of Pakistan has her moments.
Riddhi Dogra as Shaheen Baig, Aatish's wife is impressive.
Vishal Jethwa as Hassan Ali is good.
Kumud Mishra as Rakesh Prasad Chaurasia is fantastic.
Ranvir Shorey as Gopi Arya makes his mark.
Aamir Bashir as Rehan Nazar, Zoya's father is good.
Good support comes from Gavie Chahal, Anant Vidhaat, Danish Bhat, Sartaaj Kakkar as Junior, Tiger and Zoya's son, Chandrachoor Rai.
Michelle Lee is fabulous in that towel fight scene with Katrina Kaif.
And last but not the least, King Khan Shah Rukh Khan in his cameo as Pathaan is the biggest highlight and for me was the best moment (paisa vasool). The Salman Shahrukh scene in Tiger 3 has that rare ‘repeat’ value.
Technicalities
Production value are excellent. Cinematography by Anay Goswamy is brilliant. Editing by Rameshwar S. Bhagat is crisp. Music by Pritam is highly disappointing. Background score by Tanuj Tiku is impactful.
Final words
Tiger 3 – After Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai its Tiger 3, the third instalment though simply titled ahs some extraordinary action, the swag of Salman Khan and the exciting super thrilling cameo of King Khan Shah Rukh Khan to ensure your money’s worth. When Pathaan got released it was said it is a festival today and on this festival day Salman Khan gets lucky as the Maneesh Sharma directed YRF spy universe provide the much-needed sparkle and hope in Salman Khan’s dying stardom.
I saw this film early morning 7:30 am show and was glad to find some people wearing the scarf similar to that worn by Salman Khan in this Tiger series. This overwhelming feeling to see fans believing in their star even after series of failure ensures the relation between mass popular cinema in theatres and stardom. The joy to see two Khans from the Khan trinity Salman and Shah Rukh giving their fans the much-needed joy by hanging on helicopters and going all out in that action sequence which will make audience especially in single screen theatres go wild and crazy, the whistles will blow continuously for sure.
Going with an extra for SRK and the festival mood.
Happy Diwali
