Mukul Sharma’s story is based on the triangle love story format but has an unexpected twist. The screenplay and dialogues by Mukul Shrama & Divya Pande are based on the tried and trusted old school way and the narration by Pradeep R.K. Chaudhary is simple and absorbing.
Though the movie takes it time to settle in the minds and hearts of the audience who love sweet romance/love story. Though Pyaar Hai Toh Hai is developed on the rom com template its primarily a love story that emphasises on long lasting love and the pain and suffering of lost and heartbreak.
There are a couple of touchy moments and the climax is strong.
The problem with Pyaar Hai Toh Hai is the equation between Vikas and Nimmo which at times gets indigestible. Nimmo is popular on social media and is not that bhooli baaahli ladki who will surrender to a cheater like Vikas. But even after getting insulted by Vikas, Nimmo still wants to marry him.
The writer director should have made the romance between Nimmo and Vikas something novel, unusual and strong with some solid moments. Nimmo falling for Vikas is not that convincing.
The sudden rejection by Nimmo’s father is also uncalled for.
Anyways, Arman’s undying love and Nimmo’s coming of age saves the day for Pyaar Hai Toh Hai.
Performance
Karan Hariharan as Arman is a good find. His intensity can fetch him good serious roles. I believe he can be good in action. Noticeable debut.
Paanie Kashyap is charming and as Nimmo she is good. The actress makes a confident debut.
Abishek Duhan is in his character right from the first frame.
Veen Harsh as Sikander makes a good impact.
Rohit Chaudhary as Badri Bhaiya is composed.
Technicalities
Production values are fine. Cinematography by Sunita Raina is decent. Editing by Vikash is okay. Music by Anique & Bobby-Imran is situational nothing to carry home. Costumes by Anirudh Singh & Dipika Lal are routine.
Final words
Pyaar Hai Toh Hai is a simple decent and emotional love story that sees two promising talents Karan Hariharan and Paanie Kashyap making a noticeable debut.
