Naam movie review: If 'Kuch Bhi!' had a face"
What: ‘Naam’ - Ajay Devgn's resurrected film ‘Naam’, which sees him as a man with a loss of memory, is as much in search of a script as his character is in search of his identity.
Naam movie review
Blame it on Anees Bazmee's intellect which hasn't really grown since 2002, the action thriller baffles, bewilders and brain fades you! Trust me, the bruises you get would count less than the number of times Devgn face shifts, clearly indicating the film was shot in two different timelines.
Just like the rhythm of the script, or the lack of it, his character navigates myriad roles - a (step) father, an assassin, a CBI official, braves bullets and surgical miracles.
Bazmee surrounds him with an array of antagonists - Rahul Dev, Yashpal Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari , Sharat Saxena serving flimsy purpose with Bhumika Chawla and Sameera Reddy flipping in romance with him. But nothing works in this hammy, hackneyed and hurried piece of work except a few crazy buffooneries from Rajpal Yadav and Vijay Raaz.A bit of trivia, Mahie Gill made her first screen appearance here, barely seen in two scenes.
'Naam' would have been much better had it stayed buried in the abyss of anonymity. Its resurfacing has caused a brutal assault on my senses and a disservice to nostalgia.
I go with 1 star out of 5 for Naam. Running at theatres near you.
