Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 movie review

Director Anees Bazmee and writer Aakash Kaushik make sure that the soul of the blockbuster franchise ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is kept intact. This time it brings the past to juxtapose with present to deliver a spooky spoofy horror comedy drama thriller. Anees Bazmee has proven his hand in comedies (Welcome, No Entry) and has also showed his potential in handling thrillers as well Dewangee (2002) starring Ajay Devgn and Akshay Khanna is a proof.

Anees mixes comedy, horror, thrills and drama perfectly, the spoof on Jawan stands out in the comedy department and the last 25 mins deliver the winning knockout punch that is completely unexpected.

Songs pop up featuring Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri which goes against the flow, some of the jokes fall flat but every negativity gets saved with a mind-blowing climax which lifts the film and gives this massy entertaining horror comedy a sensible turn. Well done.

Performance

Kartik Aaryan excels, he betters himself and probably gives his carer best till date.

Vidya Balan is brilliant and is a scene stealer

Madhuri Dixit is a welcome addition and the diva reconfirms her persona and she also turns out to be a scene stealer.

The dance-off between Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit in ‘Ami Je Tomar’, where Madhuri performs kathak and Vidya does a mix of Bharatnatyam and Odissi is in itself your money’s worth.

Tripti Dimri leaves her mark and it’s an achievement to get the audience attention in a film which has Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan.

Excellent support comes from Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, Vijay Raaz, Rajesh Sharma, and Manish Wadhwa.

Technicalities

Top notch production values. Manu Anand’s extraordinary camerawork enhances the experience, eye candy during day capturing the beauty of Orcha and haunting at night during the dark scenes. Editing by Sanjay Sankla is sharp. Music wise ‘Ami Je Tomar’ is a winner already.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 movie review - final words

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ aka BB3 is a winner and there is no doubt, Anees Bazmee has lifted this franchise to another level with a unbelievable, unimaginable twist in the climax. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is your family gift this Diwali. The movie is running in theatres all over.

Going with a deserving 4 stars
