Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava postponed: Is the craze for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 the reason? Find out
Vicky Kaushal's touted historical ‘Chhaava’ based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj – the son of one of India’s greatest warrior King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been postponed to 2025.
Initially, the Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhaava’ was slated to release on December 06, 2024 a day after the release of Allu Arjun's most awaited ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ which is schedule to release on December 05, 2024.
However, ‘Chhaava’ has now been postponed to 2025, ‘Chhaava’ will now release on February 14, 2025. The makers say that they have postponed the movie and announced the new release date keeping in mind Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti which falls on Feb, 19 every year.
This has paved the way for Allu Arjun's ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ to have a solo release across India.
Cineblues Point Of View
It’s hard to believe that the makers of ‘Chhaava’ were unaware that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti falls on Feb, 19 every year. If they wanted to coincide the release of ‘Chhaava’ with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, they should have done it earlier, ideally when they released the teaser of ‘Chhaava’ that shows Vicky Kaushal in a never before fearsome roaring avatar.
But. The ‘wild fire’ created by the trailer of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule’ and the historic trailer release event in Patna have made the makers of ‘Chhaava’ take a back seat and allow the Pushpa 2 aka ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ enjoy the deserving solo release all over India.
‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, in association with Sukumar Writings and stars Allu Arjun in the lead along with Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj. It is the second instalment in the Pushpa film series and the sequel to the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise.
It’s the Allu Arjun’s upcoming storm that has forced ‘Chhaava’ to back off and come next year. The ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti’ is just an excuse for the public. Actually, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ would have struggled to survive if Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 would have fulfilled the expectations.
It’s a safe move by Dinesh Vijiyan’s Maddock Productions and it’s a known fact that the star power of Allu Arjun is at least ten times more than Vicky Kaushal’s.
The people know the truth, why you need excuses. We want both the movies ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Chhaava’ to have a good run at the box office.
‘Chhaava’ is an epic historical action film adapted from the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. Vicky Kaushal plays Sambhaji Maharaj – son of the great Maratha warrior Chttrapati Shivaji Maharaj. ‘Chhaava’ is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.
The makers of ‘Chhaava’ should have avoided the ‘jayanti’ sentiment and given a ‘technical’ reason for their backing off, kyuki public sab jaanti hai.
